2010-03-23
[Dawn] Police officials have arrested two suspected terrorists from the Federal Capital and recovered a suicide jacket in their possession. Three others were arrested based on the information provided by the two captured suspects.

The suspects, Noor Jehan and Rehmat Gul, belong to the Qari Hussain Group based in Laddah, Orakzai Agency.

Acting Inspector General of Islamabad Police, Bani Amin said that the arrested terrorist, Noor Jehan was a former employee of the Frontier Constabulary.

Jehan was kidnapped by the militants in 2007 and was kept in detention for twenty five days where he was brain-washed.

He joined duty after being released and was transferred to Police Lines Headquarters in Islamabad, where he ran away with his FC uniform. The FC uniform was later used as a disguise to transport suicide jackets to Islamabad.

Noor Jehan and his accomplices carried out reconnaissance of the World Food Program (WFP) office and other targets in Islamabad. Later on, he launched suicide bombers at the WFP office and Naval Headquarters Gate in 2009.

Amin said they also revealed their future plans during the interrogation. They were planning to target Serena Hotel, District Courts, French Club, Police 15 office and other important government installations.

Including, a plot to kidnap the Jordanian Ambassador from Islamabad.
