| #3 Land mines are one of the cheapest of weapons, and though they are rarely significant as anti-personnel devices, they do have the advantage of slowing down enemy movements very effectively, like snipers. One technique, used in Vietnam, cost just a few dollars to make dozens of mines, with stuff on hand. Not terribly reliable, but not bad, and a mine field could be laid by one man in a few minutes. |

| #2 Interesting. Abdulmutallab used a similar device. Where was this device first encountered, and which groups are using it? How has it spread? This kind of shared m.o. is a strong indicator of links. |
