Private security guard Masood Hussain Shah and head constable Ittefaq averted a major disaster when they forcibly stopped the teenaged bomber from entering the Qasr-i-Sakina Imambargah in Shakrial along the Islamabad Expressway. Almost 500 people, including women and children, were present at the imambargah. The security guard remained unhurt, but the policeman was injured. Six-year-old Urooj was hit by shrapnel and died, while her father was injured. The explosion took place a few minutes before a procession was due to reach the place.
