| Accidental blast takes 15 lives in north Iraq |

| [Iran Press TV Latest] A deadly explosion has claimed the lives of at least 15 Iraqi soldiers who were carrying out a bomb disposal operation near Mosul in the north of the country. The blast took placed on Friday on the outskirts of Baashiqa about 30 kilometers (18 miles) northeast of Mosul, AFP quoted a Defense Ministry official as saying on condition of anonymity. A military source said the soldiers were carrying out routine controlled explosions of roadside bombs collected in the area over the previous week. Among the victims was one army officer, the official added. One soldier was also seriously wounded. |
