Venezuela steps up control over urban land |

Venezuela's National Assembly has approved a law that paves the way for the government to take over private buildings and land in urban areas. The law says urban property will be turned over to authorities if deemed necessary for social development. It will go into effect following its publication in the Official Gazette. |
