‘CIA doesn’t know all Pak nuke sites’: Panetta | |
2009-05-20 | |
LOS ANGELES: CIA Director Leon Panetta said on Monday that the US does not know the location of all of Pakistan’s nuclear weapons but is confident Islamabad has a “pretty secure approach to try to protect these weapons”. “But it is something that we continue to watch,” he said, repeating concerns of possible Taliban access to the weapons.

#17 CIA: Fundamentally broken. CIA doesn't know... but does NSA or DIA? /heh |

#16 No need to broadcast your appalling ignorance, Leon, ya maroon... |

#15 Is this for Pakistani consumption? I can think of a couple of reasons to say such a thing: to make some factions less worried about our intentions and hopefully slow down their nuke shell game, for example. |

#14 Maybe he's lying. He does work for the CIA after all. |

#13 I thought Panetta was smarter than this. Is his boss making his brains curdle? I'm pretty dumb on the intelligence business, but even I know you don't let slip what you don't know. |

#11 The plan is to blame Bush of course. |

#10 If he thinks we can trust Islamabad to have a "secure approach", when they have aided the proliferation to rogue states, we are in serious trouble. |

#9 But we do have a plan to remove what we don't know, right? And to show good faith, the US will reduce our nukes first. Obama's planning skills, derived from community organizing experience with ACORN and the sage advice from esteemed consultants that include Kissinger and Soros, have worked so well in closing Gitmo and rescuing the economy, we can all sleep well tonight. I mean, we do have a plan, don't we?????Don't we???? |

#8 Maybe this is just a CYA statement. If the Pak Nukes get loose, and we take a hit, excuses are already loaded, armed, and ready to fire. At least, IMHO, that is what the present regime in Washington, DC, think. |

#7 then did we ever know where the Russians are or for that matter where the Iranian ones are? No. Not even close. After the Soviet Union dissolved, we found out that they had 20,000 more nukes than declared under SALT/START. |

#5 If with all our eyes and sensors we don't really know where they all are, then did we ever know where the Russians are or for that matter where the Iranian ones are? If we don't know the latter, then doesn't that make action by the Israelis even more urgent to get to them before they become more numerous? Bad play there Leon. |

#3 The admission of a lack of knowledge about things of this nature are generally best kept to one's self. Appears Penyata is assisting Barry in loading up the airwaves with anything other than the Queen Nancy h2obrdg debacle. |

#1 Dummy. If you don't know you let slip quietly that you DO know, just to rattle the Paks. I was thinking more along the lines of Dumba$$, but Dummy will do. |
