2009-04-25 |
Nineteen people were arrested Saturday for trying to burn the national flags of India and Sri Lanka, police in Chennai and Erode, India, said. In Chennai, 15 members of the Tamil National Socialist Party and the Tamil Nationalist Liberation Movement were arrested in front of the Shastri Bhavan, which houses the passport office and other government offices, reported the Press Trust of India. The protesters, in a statement, said the government of India had not done enough to prevent the killing of Lankan Tamils in Sri Lanka. The Tamils didn't do enough to prevent the killing of Rajiv Ghandi. Tough snot. In Erode, four members of the pro-Lankan Tamil Desiya ViduthalaiIyakkam and Tamildesa Poduvudamai Katchi were arrested near the railway station when they set fire to the national flags of the two countries, Press Trust reported. |
