Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit on Saturday urged the international community not to link terrorism with any single state or a specific community without investigation and evidence.
Ohfergawdsake. First we weren't supposed to link it with Islam, even though most of the practitioners of terrorism wear turbans and issue fatwahs. Now we're not supposed to link terrorism with Pakistain even though virtually every major act of Islamic terrorism in the world in the past ten years has been conceived and controlled by Terror Central in Pakistain. Buying this one would be what's known as a willing suspension of disbelief.

"We should act responsibly if any terrorist act takes place in any part of the world rather then indulging in a blame game," Basit said. He said Pakistan never blamed any state for anything without investigation. To a question, he said the Pakistan government was concerned over the arrest of Pakistani students and was in constant touch with the British government for securing their release, adding that the government had offered legal assistance to the arrested students. The spokesman said the acting high commissioner had met UK officials over the issue. He said the government's stance was that the UK should initiate trials if they had any evidence against the students and if they had no proof, the students should be released without delay. |
