US President Barack Obama is outlining his vision of a world free of nuclear weapons

#16  Reagan had the vision too. But when he talked about it you knew he wouldn't risk the country to achieve it, he'd achieve it to reduce the country's risk.

#15  ...This isn't new. Don't forget Jimmah Cartuh wanted to cut the ICBM force to 100 missiles (from roughly 1600) and wipe out the bomber force to replace them with about a dozen 747s fitted to launch ALCMs. And only the professional hari-kiri of MGen John Singlaub (a nutcase, as it turned out, but a loyal one) prevented Jimmah from pulling all US ground forces out of the ROK.

#14  CF you have hit on one of the tragedies of education. Corporatism was Mussolini's answer to socialism. He didn't want state ownership, just state control. THAT is fascism. THAT is the Obamanation way.

Sic Semper Tyrranis.

#13  E.C.

To Obama and the rest of his Socialists / (and yes I'll say it!) Fascists all that is a feature - not a bug.

Remember - never let a crisis go to waste.

#12  On a more serious note this just proves how little Obama understands about defense and foreign policy.

A world without nuclear weapons would be a chaotic nightmare.

South Korea would be overrun by NK, Taiwan would have been invaded by China, Russia would be tempted to take back former Soviet states by force, wars between India and Pakistan would have cost millions of lives already, the Arabs would have ganged up against Israel etc etc.

Do not wish for a world without nukes. Especially not ours.

#11  Did not appear to be much mindless slobbering at Baden Baden. Hat tip to Angele EC, for essentially telling him to bugger off.

And the sizzle's fading fast, Alan.

#3  His peacenik nuclear platitudes sort of ring hollow on the back of the NKOR launch. We disarm while they do exactly the opposite? He certainly must enjoy appearing nieve and stupid.

#2  Ah, Cynicism.....his base just eats that crap up. They can sit around, singing "Kumbaya", and make world peace happen by visualizing it. It takes them to the happy place where unicorns frolic in the rainbows. And best of all...they don't have to work for it, it just "happens", because, you know, effort is like, difficult. finally the world will recognize the wisdom of their reasoned, intelligent point of view.

#1  His visions might be of interest to his psychoanalyst, but why share such embarrassing fantasies with the general public?
