Cyber war: Indian Army says its systems are hack-proof
2009-03-31
NEW DELHI: The Army is geared up for skirmishes in the digitised battlefield as well. The force is quite confident that its information systems are quite "secure'' from hostile strikes in the backdrop of China-based hacker groups increasingly mounting attacks on computer networks across the globe.

"We have put in place a very secure network and I can confidently say that it cannot be tampered with,'' said signal officer-in-chief Lt-General P Mohapatra on Monday.
He's just asking for it.

#3  I wouldn't go advertising it. That is just painting a target on your back.

However, I have great faith in their network security. Just remember, your greatest vulnerability is from the INSIDE.

#2  Whenever I call hardware or software support for some problem I'm having--I don't get some guy or gal in the States, I get some guy or gal with an anglicized name in India.

#1  Nah, it's possible to build a pretty secure network if you know what you're doing, and listen to the right people. The US unfortunately has far too much politics involved when making computer security decisions, so our networks leak like a sieve, and in the next big shooting war, our cruisers are all going to come to a stop at the same time while staring at garbage on their computer screens.
