Freeman walks away from US intel slot
2009-03-11
Charles Freeman, the controversial choice to chair the US National Intelligence Council, withdrew from the position on Tuesday, hours after top intelligence officials defended his selection.
"It seems you can get away with murder---if your name is Vorkosigan."
"If you really believe this, why are you blocking my way?"

#7  The first book has a really good possible rotating title for the front page...

"They think they're the wave of the future, but it's just sludge flowing downhill."

#4  It is disturbing that "top intelligence officials defended his selection". Doesn't really sound all that intelligent.

#3  Supposing there were no Jews and no Israel, and no Israel Lobby for him to rant against, would I then be expected to be happy with a NIC chair who cheered on the butchers of Tiananmien square?

(a) The Vorkosigan Saga is not space opera---it's space ballet.

(b) If you belive, like Chas Freeman, that Israeli Lobby rules Washington to the detriment of USA, and have expressed this opinion in public numerous times---don't go looking for a USG job that affects Israel.

#1  Love your taste in space opera, but I don't see the connection between the quote and the news item. Is Freeman getting married to a recent widow or something?
