Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni declared on Thursday that Israel would not reach an agreement with Hamas, which represents terror, and not the wellbeing of the Palestinians."Hamas doesn't represent any legitimate interests of the Palestinians, in the way it took the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip hostage," said Livni in a briefing of foreign ambassadors on Thursday evening in Tel Aviv, "and this is the reason, that while acting against the Hamas, against terror, we are trying to take all the necessary steps, in order to help in terms of humanitarian [needs]," she added.
"Hamas, as you are well aware, is hiding among civilians, they target Israel from schools," Livni reminded the ambassadors.
"At the end of the day, we are not going to make agreements with terror [groups]; the battle is against terror, and in order to have peace and quiet in this region, [it is necessary] to defeat terror, and not to have agreements with them," said Livni.
