"My husband's brain has been stolen!"
2008-10-28
A New York woman has filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit charging that her dead husbandÂ’s brain has been missing for more than two years.

In the complaint that was filed at the State Supreme Court in Manhattan, Mozelle Purifoy claims the brain of her husband was illegally removed from his body for medical research after he died in July 2006, Newsday reported Tuesday.

She claims it went missing following an autopsy by the Office of The Suffolk County Medical Examiner on Long Island. As a result, Purifoy is suing Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City and its related units for allegedly attempting to acquire the brain without permission, according to the paper.

Purifoy is seeking $4 million in damages for emotional distress. She said that neither she nor her husband, Tom, signed any organ donation card.

#5  I wonder if there is any relationship to Amb. John Emil Peurifoy A really interesting guy my dad met in 1954 on a US President Lines ship in the Pacific.

Peurifoy's wrote the following jingle which appeared in Time magazine July 28, 1954, which seemed to sum up nicely the U.S. attitude about the CIA-sponsored operation in Guatemala:

Sing a song of quetzals, pockets full of peace! The junta's in the palace, they've taken out a lease. The Commies are in hiding, just across the street; To the embassy of Mexico they beat a quick retreat. And pistol-packing Peurifoy looks mighty optimistic For the land of Guatemala is no longer Communistic.

#4  She was tipped off when she noticed her husband, a lifelong Republican, had registered to vote for Obama eight times.

#1  King County WA is having a similiar issue; seems the Medical Examiner harvested brains and other organs and sold them off. not getting a lot of press but he set the county up for mass quantities of lawsuits.
(could insert snarky comment about typical Seattle libs brains being empty and not worth a lot, but won't)
