#3  #2, money. In addition, I suspect that there also needs to be a lot of research in giving the pilot/operator full situational awareness. Drones are presently being used in controlled environments. Right now they cannot be trusted to be in mixed traffic (manned/unmanned). They are a long way from that. In addition the pilot will need to be closer to the aircraft as real interaction, whether combat or civil, requires no time lag for commands and the availability of sufficient unjammable bandwidth. Not all actions are or should be without human intervention or responsibility. All of this is doable but requires time and money.

#1  Lovely. But while this is exceptionally useful for small scale operations, it is just the first.

As the aircraft get larger and carry more weaponry, they in turn become critical SAM and AAM targets, which means that combat fighter drones are a big priority.
