Jamia Fareedia set to reopen soon |
2008-08-28 |
The Jamia Fareedia, which was closed after the Lal Masjid operation last year, is likely to reopen in the next two or three days, Dawn News reported on Wednesday. According to the channel, Lal Masjid Ulema Action Committee head Qari Saeedur Rehman said that the government was likely to permit the reopening of Jamia Fareedia following negotiations between Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl chief Fazlur Rehman and Pakistan People's Party Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari. He also said that the committee would hold talks with the Interior Ministry over the reconstruction of Jamia Hafsa as well as the immediate release of former Lal Masjid chief cleric Maulana Abdul Aziz. Aziz was caught trying to escape in a burqa at the peak of Lal Masjid crisis last year and has been in custody ever since. |
