Pakistan troops fire again across Line of Control
2008-08-15
As India celebrated its Independence Day, Pakistani troops fired mortars and rockets at Indian Army and Border Security Force (BSF) positions at two places in forward areas of Jammu region on Friday, marking yet another ceasefire violation.

The two incidents took place within an hour of each other along the international border at R S Pura in Jammu sector and the Line of Control at Mandi in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir, according to Army sources in New Delhi.

With the two incidents being reported, the number of violations of the November 2003 ceasefire agreement with India by Pakistan Army since January this year has reached 24.

#9  Pakistan gets away with terror because they ethnically cleansed Hindus from their country. India has allowed Muslims to thrive.

#8  The regions of Kashmir under Pak control (Azad Kashmir and the Northern Areas) directly adjoin Afghanistan.

So India would only have to control what is already claims as its territory (the former princely state of Jammu and Kashmir - minus the part grabbed by China). It would extend road and rail links all the way to Kabul. An air corridor from Indian airbases would also be secure.

Pakistan proper, would be untouched.

#7  #6 How much would India have to enlarge Jammu and Kashmir in order to get a decent ground freight route into Afghanistan?

Well, if they took it all the way to the Indus River (from which India derives its name), then the US could "help" the Afghanis take the west bank, and a freight route wouldn't be a problem. Of course, it'd be pretty rough on Pakistan, but I can't think of a more deserving bunch.

#5  Apparently, the three ass-kickings they got from India before wasn't enough. They are going for a fourth.

#4  Incredible, it's almost like they want to provoke a fight for some reason.
