| 10 Iraqi troops killed in Diyala |

| At least 10 Iraqi soldiers have been killed and 13 others wounded in an attack on a checkpoint in Diyala province northeast of Baghdad. The victims were decapitated after being shot. "After killing the soldiers, the gunmen beheaded them," an Iraqi security official from Baquba in Diyala province told AFP. He said the attack took place at around 7:00 pm (1600 GMT) on Monday. The US military blamed the attack on al-Qaeda insurgents who have allegedly escalated their attacks in the volatile Diyala province, according to AP. |
