Taliban ban two Urdu dailies for spreading 'obscenity' in Mirali |
2008-03-13 |
Local Taliban imposed a ban on the sale of two Urdu dailies in the Mirali sub-division of North Waziristan on Wednesday. The Taliban warned newsagents of Urdu dailies Aaj Kal, published from Islamabad, and Waqt, published from Lahore, that if their newspapers were sold in the Mirali area in the future, the newspapers would be burnt at Mirali Chowk. The Taliban said both newspapers were spreading obscenity by publishing un-Islamic and immoral photographs of women. Separately, a missile fired from the Afghan side landed in Faiz MuhammadÂ’s house in Madda Khel village on the Pak-Afghan border on Wednesday, killing two women. |
