A hand grenade was lobbed at the residence of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on DI Khan-Bannu road at around 9pm on Tuesday. Rehman remained unharmed.
RehmanÂ’s servant, Muhammad, told Daily Times that the explosion caused no damage as the grenade exploded outside the residenceÂ’s boundary wall. The JUI-F chief was at home at the time of the explosion, having just arrived from Saudi Arabia after performing Umrah. Local police chased the attacker, but he escaped into the darkness after firing shots at the police party.
