Two dead in southern Thailand and six terrorists escape jail

Terrorists Insurgents shot dead a government official in Narathiwat province on Saturday morning. Abdullah Taloh, Samakhee tambon administration organisation chief, was gunned down on a motorcycle in Rueso district when he was returning from sending his daughter off to a Children's Day event in the district.

The killing came after an ambush of a man early today. The victim, identified as Jaeyor Dum, was attacked while he was riding a motorcycle from a rubber plantation in Yala's Raman district.

Six suspected terrorists insurgents broke free from a detention cell of Tanyong police station in Muang district early Sunday morning. About 3,000 police, soldiers and Interior Ministry officials set up road checkpoints and searched many areas but failed to locate them. Narathiwat police chief Pol Maj Gen Pongsak Nakwichit said three of the suspects had escaped on small fishing boat toward Malaysia.
