| #4 JohnQC, I read it yesterday that Professor Lewis is claiming the Arabs chose to get drunk on National Socialism (whether secular or Islamist) and Nazi antisemitic tales and goals. |

| #1 This is making me suspicious, being a story about a story about what he said. Unless I'm confusing Bernard with Carl or somebody, the quote conflicts with Lewis' previous writing. My guess is Lewis was talking about the rise of the Baath party and the original reporter mangled the concept. Wouldn't that be unprecedented! I'd like to see an actual transcript of the speech before I pass judgment. |
