(SomaliNet) Two Ethiopian soldiers and seven civilians died amidst clashes between Islamist insurgents and Ethiopian troops in the Somali capital, residents said on Sunday.
The bodies of the civilians were recovered in the Towfiq neighbourhood of northern Mogadishu after the night-time clashes. According to Mohamed Bashir, an elder in Towfiq, he had seen the bodies of five men who had been shot in a garage. Hassan Adan Suge, a nephew of one of the victims, confirmed he took other bodies away from the scene.
Residents said two Ethiopian forces were killed and several wounded in overnight clashes with insurgents who ambushed a patrol in the hostile neighbourhood. |
