Egyptian border police shot and seriously injured a Turkish man trying to illegally cross the border into Israel on Thursday, a security official and medics said.
The Turkish national was attempting to cross into Israel along with six members of his family, said the official who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the press. He added the man was immediately evacuated to a local hospital after being shot in the head. According to the official, the man did not comply to the order, but continued crossing the barbed wire barrier marking the borders with the Jewish state, prompting police to open fire. |
