ILO report: US workers most productive
2007-09-04
American workers stay longer in the office, at the factory or on the farm than their counterparts in Europe and most other rich nations, and they produce more per person over the year.

They also get more done per hour than everyone but the Norwegians, according to a U.N. report released Monday, which said the United States "leads the world in labor productivity."

The average U.S. worker produces $63,885 of wealth per year, more than their counterparts in all other countries, the International Labor Organization said in its report.

#7  It is interesting that the Americans are 14% more productive per capita than the next highest country.

#6   I wonder how the 12+ million illegal aliens skew the US numbers?

We have to work longer to pay the taxes for the overcrowded schools, county emergency rooms, defaulted medical bills, etc, etc, etc. while they wire more money home to the family back home.

#4  France's high unemployment rate assures that it's least productive employees do not drag down the average.

#3  Hey, France is 5th! not bad, considering about 24% of the work force is made of civil servants, who are not the most, er, industrious and productive workers around (IIRC, a rapport found a couple of years ago? that the actual work week was in the vicinity of 24-27 hours, assuming all the time spent at work is used to work, of course...).

Still, beaten by Belgium!
