#6 The Israelis will get PAC-3 since US aid will pay for 100% of it. The US congress is only willing to pay for about 50% of Arrow acquisition costs ($170M/battery). That's after US taxpayers have already funded $2 billion for it. The Arrow has the same problem as legacy Patriots. It uses a proximity fuse and HE warhead. Like the Patriot, it can destroy the incoming missile w/o destroying the warhead. In addition, Israel was considering dumping Arrow for THAAD. |

#5 The banana slicer might be overkill for scuds. I think Israel should use their domestically developed missile defense. It's something along the lines of a flyswatter with an extended handle, isn't it? Gr*m? |
