2 killed, 6 injured in Thai southern violence |

(Xinhua) -- Two local residents were shot dead by suspected insurgents in Thailand's southern border province of Narathiwat on Saturday while six others injured in another two attacks, police said. The two residents were killed while riding their motorcycle in Ban Kadoh Village in Tambon Rusoh of Rusoh district in the afternoon. Police said an unknown number of insurgents fired at their heads with pistols before fleeing on motorcycles. The two local resident were killed on the spot. Hours before in the same province, a policeman was shot by three insurgents at a police station in Ruso district and severely wounded on the head. While in nearby Ra-ngae district, five soldiers were wounded in a bombing. Police said about 60 soldiers from a special unit responded to inspect a reported suspicious object placed on the road. As they approached, a buried bomb exploded and wounded five soldiers. The suspicious object was found to be a harmless, decoy bomb. |
