Bombs strike market areas in Baghdad, killing 14 people and wounding dozens
2007-02-12
BAGHDAD (AP) - Two parked car bombs and a bomb hidden in a plastic bag struck market districts in central Baghdad on Monday, killing at least 14 people and wounding dozens, police said.
The violence started about 11:50 a.m. when the parcel bomb exploded in a crowded area near a popular take-away falafel restaurant in the Bab al-Sharqi area, police said, adding that at least six people were killed and 16 were wounded.

About 30 minutes later, two cars packed with explosives blew up in quick succession near the Shorja market district, collapsing a building and setting stores on fire. At least eight people were killed and 26 were wounded in the two blasts, which occurred within 100 metres of each other.

#5  Bombs strike market areas in Baghdad, killing 14 people and wounding dozens

Iraqi brag about their ancient governments, scribes and mathematics. And in the Iraqi blogs I've had many "discussions" with Iraqis who insist that under Saddam Iraqis were a very organized society.

Well how come Iraqis can't even organize a market system where by they eliminate at least the car and truck bombs from entering into high density human areas? pathetic..

Using picture IDs, dogs and other screening methods you could practically eliminate splodydopes from entering food markets too.

If Iraqis can't devise a workable food market system in 4 years that protects them from most bombs/bombers then they are indeed.. truly hopeless ..

#4   how many WalMarts (or Nieman-Marcuses) will they have to blow up in Los Angeles or Houston etc. before the sheeple demand the government 'do something'? And that 'something' would be a choice between surrender and a police state - or a combination of the two.

No, just eliminate the muslims. While not all muslims are terrorists, the vast majority of all terrorists are muslims. Getting rid of the muslims will eliminate the terror. As for the battle in Iraq, we lost the opportunity at the beginning to teach these idiots we were stronger than their "god". There should have been a massive "shock and awe" bombing campaign on one of their military installations near Baghdad, using a dozen BUFFS. One would have been sufficient. Then we could tell Tater that if he doesn't get with the program we'll do the same thing to Sadr City, or any other location that we find difficult to pacify. Dead men don't fight, and the islamonutz don't feel dead women and children are anything to fuss about.

#3  Disturbing tactic - blow up the womenfolk in the marketplaces and bring down a government by demonstrating it cannot fulfull its primary job responsibility of protecting the women and children. I fear there are no possible positive outcomes - the only way to stop the carnage is harsh, tyrannical rule (by whovever can field the harshest, most tyrannical force.)

It also sets a precedent, a template of how Islam will conquer the West - how many WalMarts (or Nieman-Marcuses) will they have to blow up in Los Angeles or Houston etc. before the sheeple demand the government 'do something'? And that 'something' would be a choice between surrender and a police state - or a combination of the two.

Anarchy is the initial result of this tactic, and it makes the people willing to accept almost anything to restore order.
