#2 Other priorities also matter. If you issue one meal a day, then troops have to carry around uneaten food for half of it. The comparison also isn't quite fair, as the US also makes LRRP rations that would kick the French as far as calories and all. Each LRRP provided 1560 calories (15% protein, 35% fat, and 50% carbohydrate). And, from personal experience, let me tell you that one of those LRRPs can feed three hungry men. |

#1 ItÂ’s a cultural thing. WhatÂ’s important? When you have many things to do, sitting down to a civilized meal as opposed to quick, fast, standard, mass produced isnÂ’t a priority. When you are just awaiting the barbarian, then even the condemned are, by ritual, offered one last good meal. Bon Appetit! |
