2006-10-06
BAGHDAD – Multi-National Division – Baghdad Soldiers from 4th Brigade Combat Team, and 1st BCT, 4th Infantry Division, confiscated illegal munitions in Baghdad Tuesday.

While conducting combat operations at approximately 8 a.m. in BaghdadÂ’s Al Bayaa district, Soldiers from 4th BCT seized a rocket-propelled grenade launcher, two RPG rounds, two 57mm rockets, 14 60mm rounds, 10 81mm rounds, a PKC assault rifle, a pistol, a mortar tube base, a full PKC bandoleer, and nine mortar fuses. The Soldiers also detained three suspected terrorists.

In a separate incident, Soldiers from 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Inf. Div., detained two suspects after finding illegal weapons inside their vehicle. The Soldiers seized three AK-47s, seven homemade grenades and ammunition for a PKC assault rifle.

The five suspects from the two incidents were detained for questioning and Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams destroyed the munitions.

In a separate incident Monday evening, Soldiers from 1st Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 1st BCT, thwarted a possible kidnapping north of Baghdad after spotting a vehicle hidden in bushes with a male and female passenger. The Soldiers were informed by the female passenger that she had been kidnapped and the other passenger had plans to rape and kill her. More a criminal/ex-boyfriend than a terrorist? The male passenger was detained and the female was returned to her home. The Soldiers also found an AK-47 rifle with seven magazines, a pistol with three magazines and body armor in the vehicle.

As of Monday, Iraqi Security Forces and MND-B Soldiers have cleared approximately 95,000 buildings, 80 mosques and 60 muhallas, Just how does one "clear" a mullah? detained more than 125 terrorist suspects, seized more than 1,700 weapons, registered more than 750 weapons and found 35 weapons caches in support of operation together forward. The combined forces have also removed more than 196,921 cubic meters of trash from the streets of Baghdad.

They should take the people they find with these caches, hogtie them, throw them on top of their cache, and blow up the whole thing. With a pig! :-)

#2  Aren't muhullahs those little neighborhood prayer rooms?

Separately, why would a kidnap-for-rape criminal need body armor?
