| Unidentified gunmen fired at a UAZ jeep of the local district police department in the Nozhai-Yurt region of Chechnya. One policeman was killed and another two were injured in the shootout, a source in Chechen police told Itar-Tass on Thursday. “A police patrol car convoyed a Niva jeep with representatives of the republican and local authorities who were going for a meeting with Gordali residents. The automatic fire and from an under-barrel grenade launcher was opened at the police patrol car on the highway near Tsentoroi,” the source said. No Niva passengers were hurt. The medical aid was given to the injured policemen. The search operation for the gunmen hot on their traces has not yielded results yet. The search operation is underway. |
