QUETTA: A part of the main gas pipeline in Hub exploded late on Thursday. No casualty was reported and authorities are investigating the cause of the blast. Police officials said that a boundary wall near the pipeline had been damaged and small parts of the pipeline had spread in the area. They said that preliminary investigations revealed did not show any signs of sabotage. "The pipeline might have exploded because of the gas pressure," they added. Police and gas company officials from Karachi have cordoned off the area and repair has started.Also, a man identifying himself as Meerak Baloch, a Baloch Liberation Army representative, claimed responsibility for the blast. He said that BLA activists had planted explosives around the pipeline and blown it up. Provincial government officials were not available for comment.
