SRINAGAR, India - Indian police and troops on Wednesday killed four terrorists militants, two of them during an attack on a police camp in Kashmir, as terrorists rebels rejected an offer of assistance if they shun violence. âTwo terrorists militants opened fire and hurled grenades at our camp with an intention to storm in. We have killed both of them,â federal police spokesman R.K. Singh said in Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian Kashmir.
Singh said one was killed before he could storm the roadside camp housed in a disused cinema hall. âThe second terrorist militant was killed as soon as he managed to enter our camp,â said Singh. âWe neutralised both terrorists before they could inflict heavy losses on us,â he said, adding that one policeman was wounded in the initial attack.
The gunshots and grenade explosions caused panic among civilians in the Hawal locality of downtown Srinagar. |
