Italy busts 3 Algerians |
2005-11-17 |
Italian police have arrested three suspected Algerian Islamic extremists on suspicion of aiding and abetting international terrorism, Ansa news agency reported today. Ansa said police viewed the suspects as ''potentially operative''. It said they were seized overnight on Nov. 15-16 in the southern port city of Naples and northern city of Brescia. There was no immediate confirmation of the report. Ansa said the Algerians had been in contact with a cell from Algeria's Salafist movement, which is thought to have links to al Qaeda. Ansa did not say where they were being held. |
