 The Detective Branch (DB) police Friday arrested a district-level leader of the militant outfit Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), who was a mastermind of the August 17 serial bombings here, from Sajnakanda in the town. Arrested Mamun (20) is a rural physician, who is a son of Ishak Mollah and a resident of village Sonkor under Sadar upazila of the district.
Acting on a secret information, a team of the DB police arrested Mamun from Sajnakanda when he came for an interview at around 10:30am seeking a pharmaceutical job, the police sources said. During interrogation, Mamun confessed to have his involvement in the bombings saying that he had carried out bomb blasts at six spots in the district.
