The government yesterday declared Tk 50 lakh each as reward for information leading to arrest of Shaikh Abdur Rahman and Siddiqur Rahman Bangla Bhai, the masterminds of the August 17 cross-country bombings. Earlier on September 11, the government had announced bounty for information on the kingpins of the August 17 bombings. At that time the amount of money as reward was not mentioned.

Emerging from a meeting, Lutfuzzaman Babar, State Minister for Home Affairs told newsman yesterday that the government has declared Tk 50 lakh each as reward for information leading to the arrest of Bangla Bhai and Shaikh Abdur Rahman. A law and order review meeting was held at the RAB Headquarter with senior officials of the RAB yesterday The law enforcing agencies have ordered arrest of the kingpins of August 17 bombings Shaikh Abdur Rahman and Siddiqur Rahman alias Bangla Bhai and their followers at any cost.
Following the declaration of the bounty amount the case might take a dramatic turn for nabbing them, source in intelligence agencies said. A highly placed source said, the law enforcing agencies have already started special drive in the capital as well as in other parts of the country following receipt of ‘vital information’ that Shaikh Abdur Rahman and Siddiqur Rahman alias Bangla Bhai are now staying in the country. They are planning retaliation against the government’s recent crackdown against terrorists and zealots, he added. |
