| 2 Abu Sayyaf killed by Filippino marines |

| Two suspected members of the al Qaeda-linked Abu Sayyaf Group were killed during an encounter with the Philippine Marines in Panamao, Sulu, before dawn Wednesday, ABS-CBN Regional Network Group reported. Colonel Juancho Sabban, 3rd Marine Brigade commander, named the fatalities as Wedjimeh Sayad and Amad Sabudin. Sabban said the two are members of the band led by Abu Sayyaf chieftain Jumdam Jamalul who was recently arrested in Tawi-Tawi. Sabban said the bandits came from Basilan and have been under surveillance for three weeks now. The clash took place in Barangay Su in Panamao after elements of the 4th Marine Battalion engaged the bandits in a firefight. A Marine was wounded in the encounter. |
