Saboteurs Hit Five Iranian Oil Pipelines
2005-09-04
Saboteurs using three homemade bombs halted crude transfers from five onshore wells in Iran's restive southwestern province of Khuzestan, the student news agency ISNA reported yesterday. "The evidence indicates that the incidents on Thursday were sabotage," a security official from the provincial governor-general's office, Gholamreza Shariati, was quoted as saying. After undergoing two days of repair, the pipelines were reported to be back in service, ISNA said.

Shariati said that "some suspicious individuals" have been arrested in connection with the blasts, which had sparked the automatic shutdown of five wells. According to the report, three pipelines operated by Karun Oil and Gas Producing Company — a secondary subsidiary of the state-run National Iranian Oil Company — were damaged. "The damaged pipelines and one oilfield have been repaired and are back in service," KOGPC's deputy managing director Ahmad Tahan-Pesar said. "We have no decline in production at the moment."

He probably didn't have the stomach for that either.

  • Realistic and higher energy prices means that the search for other energy closer to home will take place because it's is profitable to do so. This is a good thing. About the only thing Jimmy the Jackass ever said that was true was quoting here “Then President Jimmy Carter addressed the nation, calling the battle to achieve energy independence the moral equivalent of war. It was, he said, the moral equivalent of war.”(source PBS News Hour) A war we have not been fighting at all. A war we ignored as soon as the oil flowed again. We are paying for that with interest.

  • Being engaged in the middle east doesn't mean we have to be hostage to their religiously inspired ignorance, whims and mendacity because we vitally need their oil. It would be better if we didn't need their oil at all ever again. A great and wonderful thing.

  • Iran is a self proclaimed enemy of my country. "Death to America" is a regular proclamation by the members of the government.

  • The Government of Iran commits hostile acts against the United States and it's citizens.

  • The Government of Iran actively supports international terrorism.

  • The Government of Iran suppresses it's people.

  • The Government of Iran destabilizes the middle east to try and attain dominance over that region.

  • Anything that hurts the government of Iran and cuts of it's air supply is a good thing. It's double triple plus good if we are not involved in it at all. It is my hope that the Government of Iran falls with out one cent or one drop of US blood being expended.

#6  I mean $1200 per year additional, assuming 100 gallons per month based on current prices of about $3 a gallon.

#5  Sweet? what do you mean sweet? This just means that the energy analysts can foresee a supply interuption and the price of oil will be going up. Cut your nose off to spite your face.

$4 a gallon gas is not a high price to pay for the collapse of the Iranian government. Why - it's only $1200 a year per taxpayer, about what we've paid for the Iraqi campaign so far, less the soldiers killed.
