 Three people have been killed in clashes between Shia and Sunni Muslims in a northern Nigerian city. Fighting broke out when a Shia group attacked Sunnis at a mosque in the city of Sokoto, in front of the Sultan of Sokoto's palace. Police say they made several arrests after the violence, which follows the killing of a Shia last weekend. The BBC's Ibrahim Dosara in Sokoto says Shia are a minority among the predominantly Sunni population. Nigeria's 130 million people are roughly equally divided between Muslims in the north and Christians in the south.
