A young girl was subjected to alleged rape and then set on fire in Bahadurabad police limits on Saturday night. She was admitted to the Civil Hospital's burns ward the same night in critical condition. She has suffered 70 percent burns. Asia, who worked as a maid at a bungalow in Ameer Khusrau Road at Dhoraji Colony, claimed that Yasin raped her and later he and his servant Amanat set her on fire. The police registered the case and are investigating. Adviser to the Sindh chief minister for health Faisal Gabol visited Civil Hospital to inquire into the incident. He suspended two doctors of the burns ward, Dr Aleem Shaikh and Dr Jhat Mal, for not providing the alleged rape victim with proper treatment and misbehaving with press representatives. Sources said Yasin and Amanat were arrested on Sunday night. The sources claimed that earlier the police registered the case as an attempt to suicide. |
