Paris set to release Arafat file
2004-11-19
France says it is ready to release the medical records of late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat to his nephew, who is due in Paris on Friday. French officials have so far denied the files to Palestinian leaders saying only family are entitled to the see them under French privacy laws. Paris now says Arafat's nephew, Palestinian observer at the UN Nasser al-Kidwa, is allowed to view them. The cause of Arafat's death last week has not yet been disclosed. This has in part fuelled speculation that he may have been poisoned. French officials have denied the rumour - saying privacy laws prevent them from making the cause of death public. It was not clear whether Arafat's wife, Suha, agreed to Mr Kidwa seeing the files or whether her consent was required.

#5  Question, does the Palestinian leadership want to preserve his image as founding father keeping alive his cult of personality, or pass the buck and blame all their problems on Yasser?

Damn! Not bad for a Texan.

Or will this have to wait for a Palestinian Khrushchev to Yasser's Stalin?

#1  And not a shred of truth in it. Wonder how many millions the real medical file will be worth for Chiraq to extort from Suha and Palestinian leaders?
