| Clerics condemn raids on madrassas, Noor's murder |

| Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) and Ittehad Tanzimat-ul-Madaris (ITM) observed Friday as protest day against raids on madrassas and the murder of Qari Noor Muhammad in police custody. Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan, Almi Tanzeem-e-Ahle Sunnat, Imamia Students Organisation (ISO) and other Shia and Sunni parties also held protest demonstrations against American aggression in Iraq. MMA and ITM held demonstrations after Friday prayers where clerics condemned raids on madrassas and demanded that those responsible for Mr Noor's death be punished. Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) provincial leader Maulana Amjad Khan, MMA Punjab President Hafiz Muhammad Adrees and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Lahore chief Mian Maqsood Ahmed led the demonstrations. JUP and ISO demonstrated outside the Lahore Press Club against firing by the American troops at Hazrat Ali's shrine in Najaf. Allama Hussein Akbar and Allama Munawar Akbar asked Muslims to unite against the US aggression. |
