Americans killed in terrorist suicide attack in Saudi Arabia
2004-05-01
RIYADH - Saudi Arabia said on Saturday it killed three militants who stormed a contracting building in the Red Sea port of Yanbu and an unknown number of foreigners and Saudis were killed in the incident. "At 7:00 A.M. on Saturday four men entered the headquarters of a Saudi contractor in Yanbu and fired at random on Saudis and foreigners," the Interior Ministry said in a statement. "Security forces chased them and they took refuge in residential areas and hijacked some cars. Three of them were killed and a fourth was wounded. There were a number of deaths and injuries among Saudis and foreigners," it added.

U.S. diplomats in Saudi Arabia said on Saturday they had received reports that Westerners, including Americans, had been attacked in the Red Sea industrial city of Yanbu and some were killed. "We have reports of more than one death. Americans appear to be among the victims," a U.S. embassy spokeswoman in Riyadh said. "We are still working on gathering details". A hotel employee in Yanbu confirmed a Westerner was killed in a five-star hotel in the city but said he had no details. "Somebody died, but we don’t know their nationality yet," the hotel employee said by telephone.

U.S. and British diplomats said on Saturday they were checking reports that a number of Western expatriates had been shot in the Red Sea industrial city of Yanbu. "We are looking into reports that Westerners have been killed or injured in a shooting," a British embassy spokesman said. The United States embassy said it had also received reports that an American citizen had been attacked. "We are gathering facts. We are concerned," a U.S. embassy spokeswoman said. Yanbu, about 150 km north of Jeddah on the Red Sea, had until now been largely unaffected by violence in the kingdom.

#11  oh and Mark..speaking of issues ...you never did explain why a higher yeild on bonds was such a bad - thing as your article (or was it Jesika's) claimed. Oh that's right..your article was pretending that the shorting of existing bonds were indicative of a fire sale. I'll be watching you buddy. You can call me The Hawk.

#10  interesting isn't it. Mark Espinola posts at 10:25 and the very next poster is you, anonymous4701. Whatta coincidence. Funny how you never address the issue I've brought up. And as your recent subsequent posts show, you aren't very subtle. You might want to change your hat (again) next time you try your magic....as I intend to expose your duplicity.

#6  Jen,
Liberal ? Me? LOLOL ...wrong guy.
The jihadic leadership is cognizant, especially as we are about to enter the summer vacation period, the best method of really hurting us economically is to target the principal commodity we are dependant on, that of crude oil & the entire energy complex.

Since the imported enemy in Iraq, lacking the fire power could never gain a field military victory over the Coalition of the willing. The only way these slithering rats have at potentially harming US in the grand scope of market economics is sneaking around in the dead of night blowing up pipelines and refineries. These acts of energy related terrorism make energy traders very nervous since none of them what to be left behind while the spot price of crude oil continues soaring due to future threats and actual attacks on energy 'targets' . $40.00 bucks a barrel is only $2.00 away from being reality and then where will the prices soar?

Almost everything we utilize in our daily lives is shipped via truck, diesel fuel is becoming bloody expensive and hurting the overall economy. The enemy loves it!

The fanatical Muslim enemy is hitting us hard to different ways. One through the front door by milking the current high cost of oil to bolster their plans of jihad expansionism, plus they jack up the price of oil by blowing everyone else oil and instilling further market fear.

Iran is the main financial element provoking the terrorism in the southern portions of Shi'ite populated Iraq. Iran is the #2 OPEC oil producer and is spreading their brand of Islamic terrorism using billions in oil profits to continue this terrorist war against western civilization. Just as in World War Two were knew where the enemy lived (Germany & Japan) and we took the war directly to the enemy's front and back doors. Iran, North Korea, Syria-Lebanon and the Saudi's must have a complete alteration in governments if we are to win this thing.

#4  Why do you say that, Espinola?
Does that fit in with you Liberals' charge that this is the "Bush war for oil?"
Aside from oil, what else does Iraq produce right now?

In that the Left is on the side of the Islamist killers, are you bragging or complaining about this attack?

#3  It's ultra-clear the jihadic enemy has plans to disrupt the flow of crude oil to America and the west in general.
