The Supreme Court of the Chechen Republic has sentenced Sergei Kamenichenko, a Russian national, to 18 years in high security prison after finding him guilty of committing a number of grave crimes, a representative of the local Prosecutor’s Office reported on Thursday. Investigators have established that the 28-year-old Russian man joined a gang of Chechen terrorists in 1996 after converting to Islam. In July 2002 a group of terrorists, including Kamenichenko, killed 4 policemen and a civilian citizen.
