UK forces facing continuing Iraqi resistance in Basra
2003-03-30
The Lebanese Al-Minar satellite TV channel said on Sunday that British forces are facing continued resistance from Iraqi forces south of Basra, Iraq's second biggest city. However, a correspondent of the Qatar-based Al-Jazeera TV reported that US-led coalition forces are continuing their bombardments of the city. British forces, who have surrounded Basra, are not allowing people to enter the city but fleeing residents are allowed to leave.
I think that means it's under siege...

#2  There seems to be some confusion on Fox News - they said a little while ago, over videoclips of the chaotic scene at the main bridge leading to the city, that civilians were being allowed back _into_ the city, at least women and children, but that adult males and anyone who might have a weapon weren't being allowed to pass.

#1  I thought the IRG was almost out of ammo there.

Then the kitchen knives come out.
