Attack Helicopter Unit Mobilized for Service
2003-01-10
A National Guard attack helicopter unit based at Raleigh-Durham International Airport received orders Thursday to mobilize for duty. The 1st Battalion of the 130th Attack Helicopter Regiment has 328 troops and 24 Apache helicopters at full strength. A guard spokesman declined to say if the unit will now be at full strength. The battalion will begin gathering Friday and be fully mobilized at the end of the month. Guard Captain Robert Carver says the troops then will move to an Army post somewhere in the United States for training. It's unclear where they'll go after that.
Bet I can guess where
The unit was mobilized in 1991 for Operation Desert Storm.
Being a Guard unit, I expect they still have vets from then.
More than 60 members of 3rd platoon of the 14-51st Motor Transportation Company in Boone have been placed on alert status and told to prepare for possible deployment. The heavy truck transportation unit that supports elements of the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg.
Humm, this is the first I have heard about the 82nd. The 101st has been involved in the HQ planning exercise in Germany.

#2  Yep. Two battalions just came back from there, a new one just went over, and another's on the way. They seem pretty well occupied for the moment.
