Terror suspect in Malaysian custody deported back to U.S.
2002-10-10
An American citizen wanted in the United States for allegedly conspiring to support Osama bin Laden's terror network was deported Thursday from Malaysia, U.S. and Malaysian officials said. Ahmed Ibrahim Bilal was being flown to the United States, but the officials would not disclose the exact destination. Federal indictments filed against him last week were handed down in Portland, Ore. A Malaysian court cleared the way for Bilal's deportation earlier Wednesday by ruling that he is an illegal immigrant in Malaysia. Bilal's passport had been revoked by Washington.
It's a long flight from Kuala Lampur to the U.S. He'll have lotsa time to work on his story...
