India attacks Azad Kashmir
2002-08-23
Pakistan on Friday said India launched an aerial bombing raid on one of Pakistan army posts along the Line of Control (LoC). The Indian Air Force dropped bombs in Gul Tari sector, in the northern districts of the Line of Control after Indian army troops attacked the post overnight. This Indian attack is a clear rebuke and slap on the face of U.S. Deputy Secretary Richard Armitage who arrived in New Delhi to diffuse tensions created by Indian Army stalking at Pakistan's border since Dec 2001. However, the Indian planes did not violate Pakistani airspace, an army spokesman said.
Only their bombs?
Dozens of Indian troops were killed but Pakistan suffered no casualties, the military announced in a press statement.
That's a pretty unlikely-sounding press release...
