Bomb kills 30 in Algerian market |
2002-07-05 |
A bomb in a crowded market outside Algiers killed at least 30 people today and injured many others. It was the worst killing of civilians in a single attack in civil strife-torn Algeria this year. The bombing came as the violence-torn North African nation celebrated the 40th anniversary of Independence from French colonial rule after a savage war. It also occurred three days after the Army Chief-of-Staff Lieutenant-General Mohamed Lamari declared that the government had won its war against Islamic guerrillas. Missed a few, did he? We guessed that... |
