| An 18-year-old Palestinian was shot dead in a south Lebanon refugee camp early Wednesday. The body of Montaser Mohammed was found outside his house in Ein el-Hilweh, Lebanon's largest refugee camp with 75,000 Palestinians on the edge of Sidon. The circumstances of his killing are unclear, said Maher Shobeita, an official of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's Fatah faction in the camp. Palestinian officials said guerrilla factions were investigating the killing. The victim was described as an unemployed man who did not belong to any group. Just another deader. Could be that he just owed money to Big Mahmoud and Fat Tony... But it's in Lebanon, where there's been a spate of dead guys lately. Ein el-Hilweh is notorious for its lawlessness. Several Palestinians wanted by police for capital crimes are believed to be hiding in the camp. Lebanese security forces guard the camp's entrances but they do not enter it. Kinda the original tough neighborhood... |
