26 sprung from church siege... |
2002-04-30 |
In a crack in Israel's month-old siege of Palestinian gunmen in Bethlehem's Church of the Nativity, 26 people filed out of the shrine. It was the largest such release since the standoff began but dozens of other people remain inside. The Israeli army said half of the group were members of Palestinian security forces and the rest civilians, including youths. They mean hostages and human shields. |
